Portable Water Filter?
 

I'm looking for a Portable Water Purifier...

It will be used mostly for long hikes, if we run out of brought water and can find decent looking stream or pond maybe...

Questions are...

Any units you guys recomend?

Never used one of these so bare with me...

Say we are hiking through the woods and run across a Stream or Pond, how do you know if you should try it, and that your filter gadget will clean whatever if anything is in the water and its now safe?

Most definitely, get the Katadyn pocket. It will last a long time..

Wow, tad steep, I was expecting like 85-90 bucks, but I guess when your out on the trail about to die of thirst, it'd seem a bargain...

Looks like I can pump water out of it right into my Camel Back's...

Katadyn makes cheaper models. The hiker pro is a good one too. And it might be better for backpacking because it's a little lighter.
